The charm of Franconia
Idyllic vineyards and wine trails, cheerful wine festivals, numerous wineries and wine cellars: wine is omnipresent in Franconia. Known for their spicy and fruity wines, the approximately 6,000 hectares of Franconian wine country stretch from Bamberg to Aschaffenburg. Viniculture takes place mainly on the protected steep slopes of the Main and Tauber. Not least because of its more than a thousand years of wine culture and its diverse variety of locations, Franconian wine is also very popular internationally and has already won many awards. The fruity, fresh Franconian wines are assigned to the upper category “New Franconia”, the green “Bocksbeutel” belong to the classic Franconia and the wine varieties Silvaner, Rießling and Burgundy belong to the category “Great Franconia”.
If you want to experience all the magic of Franconian wines, a “Terroir F” is just right for you. Nine magical places are characterised by their magnificent views of the fascinating landscape and each with its own wine theme. They are in the municipalities „Frickenhausen am Main”, „Ramsthal”, „Eibelstadt”, „Sommerhausen”, „Volkach”, „Handthal“, „Iphofen“, „Randersacker“ and „Rimpar“.
